Muscle & Fascial STRETCH Therapy
Myofascial STRETCHING
“There is no better STRETCH Therapist in Atlanta than Dr. Erin. You first go to her with a specific problem & soon learn that flexibility could be more important than any other physical regimen. The groin injury that I sustained during my many travels was quickly resolved & she showed me other flexibility issues that I was completely unaware of. After a year of regular sessions, traveling is not the physical toil it used to be. No more waking up tight. No more back spasms in the middle of a 12 hour flight. Regular sessions of STRETCH therapy will change your life. STRETCH Kinetics is THE Stretch Studio in Atlanta to get STRETCHED!” -E. Julien
Fascia is a three dimensional web of fibrous tissues that permeates and surrounds ALL organs, muscles, bones and nerve fibers. It provides both structure and function to the body creating a system where truly everything is connected and dependent on one another. If one area of the fascial web is restricted then many other structures, in many locations will also be impacted. Because of its complete integration through all accepts of the body tightness in the fascia can NEVER be ignored. The fascia is always a component of dysfunction and pain in the body.
“Myo” simply means muscle. Muscle are the movers of the body. When contracted they elicit movement of a joint. They can cross more than one joint which means they not only control one joint but can contribute to dysfunction in multiple joints. Muscles don’t just affect mobility they can also be the cause of pain via trigger points, tension and decreased flexibility.
Myofascia refers to the muscular and fascial systems combined. Since both of these systems can be responsible for dysfunction in multiple areas, maintaining their integrity is vital. Myofascial restrictions are correlated with bad posture and back, hip and shoulder pain. STRETCH Therapy at STRETCH Kinetics addresses both the fascial and muscular systems treating both current restrictions and preventing future problems.
